Vermilion communicates about gas extraction

17 december 2008

The Dutch establishment of the Canadian company Vermilion wants to drill for gas at various locations in the north of the Netherlands. This raised questions among the local population. How can we ensure that the inhabitants gain the most realistic picture possible of the consequences? We advised Vermilion to use the local/regional press and the Internet in their communications. And, as regards the information on the site, convey this in both Dutch and Frisian!
We also prepared Vermilion’s spokesmen for information meetings with the inhabitants. This approach meant that, within a few weeks, communication was no longer about Vermilion but was carried out with Vermilion. With the most important result: a balanced picture among the people living in the neighbourhood about the consequences of gas extraction.
