Works council communicates with grass roots
The question 
The energy world is in a state of flux. Changing legislation and a competitive market are forcing energy companies to take far-reaching measures. The works council of the Infra division of ENECO Energie promotes the interests of the Infra employees. We want to be kept constantly informed about what is at issue. How do we do that?
The answer 
Make a newsletter in which the works council informs the Infra employees in understandable language about current affairs, the consequences of the changes and the role that the works council fulfils on their behalf. Ensure that the newsletter appears regularly and is enjoyable to read.
The result
A publication issued regularly, entitled Horizon, gives the employees in the Infra division insight into the changes within the company and into their own situation. One important attendant effect is the increased commitment of the employees to the company and to the works council. The newsletter is popular and appreciated.
