Libraries are not dusty bookshelves
The question 
Public libraries wish to demonstrate that they are not dusty bookshelves, but modern multimedia establishments that are active in the field of information, education, culture and the promotion of learning.
The answer 
Make a documentary, no longer than fifteen minutes – with commentary, in which you reveal all aspects of the modern library. Title: Kijk! De Bibliotheek. Complete with a booklet about establishing a close-knit network of contacts with local politicians, educational establishments and other cultural and social organisations. Then focus especially on the educational function and make a second documentary: Kijk op kennis.
The result
Management and communication departments at libraries now have two films at their disposal. One general film and a specific one about the library as an educational centre. They are shown at receptions, during visits and events where the library is present. The effect on the formulation of an image among the target group (social organisations) has not been measured.
