In 2004 one of the Van Luyken partners established Stichting Informatie Dierproeven (SID). This foundation endeavours to provide the best objective information possible about animal experiments, focusing primarily on the whys and the results. The SID asked us to make an easy-access web site about this sensitive subject.
We devised a web site with topical and objective information about animal experiments and laboratory animals in the Netherlands: www.informatiedierproeven.nl. In addition to pages with background information, the visitor can also access a time line, a medicine game, an animal experiments quiz and numerous informative film clips. We place news reports on the web site every week and reply to questions mostly posted by pupils that we receive via info@informatiedierproeven.nl. We also manage the SID’s Twitter account.
More than 31,000 visitors visit the web site each year. These figures continue to rise every month. We receive scores of questions every week via info@informatiedierproeven.nl. Mainly from youngsters who are busy preparing a talk or paper on animal testing. We have a rapidly-increasing following on Twitter.
